Beijing Conference Part 1

北京學術會議之一

 

Last month Dr Wu and I attended the 9^th Bone and Joint Disease Forum hosted by the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies held in Beijing. The World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies is an State approved organisation established in 2003 to share and maintain TCM across the world and as of 2021 there are members from over 74 countries around the world that has taken part in sharing knowledge.

上個月，我和吳擎添醫生參加了世界中醫藥學會聯合會在北京舉辦的第九届骨關節病論壇。世界中醫藥學會聯合會是國家準予成立的組織，成立於2003年，旨在在世界範圍內分享和維護中醫藥，截至2021年，有來自全球超過74個國家的會員參與知識分享。

 

The main purpose of this organisation as quoted from their website is

正如其網站所引述的，這個組織的主要目的是

 

1. To carry out various academic activities, to promote exchanges and cooperation between  Chinese medicine groups in countries and regions around the world, to improve the academic level of traditional Chinese medicine, to build an international exchange platform for Chinese medicine, to promote the exchanges of Chinese medicines and health care products.

開展各類學術活動，促進世界各國和地區中醫藥團體之間的交流與合作，提高中醫藥學術水準，搭建中醫藥國際交流平臺，促進交流中藥及保健品的發展。

 

2. To formulate international organization standards related to Chinese medicine to promote the healthy and orderly development of Chinese medicine in countries around the world.

製定中醫藥相關國際組織標準，促進中醫藥在世界各國健康有序發展。

 

3. To organize and carry out qualification (level) examinations for Chinese medicine practitioners at all levels, to improve the quality of Chinese medicine practitioners.

組織開展各級中醫師資格（級別）考試，提高中醫師貭素。

 

4. To organize various and all levels of Chinese medicine medical treatment, skills, and health care training to improve the professional ability of Chinese medicine treatment and health care personnel.

組織開展各級各類中醫醫療、技能、保健培訓，提高中醫治療、保健人員的專業能力。

 

5. Provide talent exchange services, ensure the talent needs of Chinese medicine groups, and promote the development of Chinese medicine groups.

提供人才交流服務，保障中醫藥團體人才需求，促進中醫藥團體發展。

 

6. Establish a portal website, carry out information exchange, and provide consulting services, remote consultation, remote training and online office.

建立入口網站，開展資訊交流，提供諮詢服務、遠端會診、遠程培訓和網上辦公。

 

7. Publish academic journals to publicize the characteristics and advantages of Chinese medicine.

出版學術期刊，宣傳中醫藥特色和優勢。

 

8. Carry out Ethics certification work to promote the development of Chinese medicine.

開展倫理認證工作，促進中醫藥事業發展。

 

9. Carry out the work of Chinese medicine service trade, and promote the exchange and cooperation and win-win cooperation of Chinese medicine service trade in multiple fields and angles.

開展中醫藥服務貿易工作，多領域、多角度促進中醫藥服務貿易交流合作、合作共贏。

 

This conference was held at the International Bamboo and Rattan Organisation headquarters located in Wangjing, Beijing.

這次會議在位於北京望京的國際竹藤組織總部舉行。

 

The International Bamboo and Rattan Organization (INBAR) is an independent intergovernmental organization established in 1997 to develop and promote innovative solutions to poverty and environmental sustainability using bamboo and rattan and it has since expanded its scope to include various environmental and humanitarian causes so it was the perfect place to hold the Bone and Joint disease forum there.

國際竹藤組織（INBAR）是一個獨立的政府間組織，成立於1997年，旨在開發和推廣利用竹藤解决貧困和環境可持續性的創新解決方案，此後其範圍擴大到包括各種環境和人道主義事業，因此這裡是舉辦骨關節疾病論壇的理想場所。

 

As the main purpose of this conference was to share brand new findings and exciting new medical techniques with fellow practitioners, there was many leading scholars from around the world that presented their latest findings from innovative surgical techniques for safer laparoscopic spinal surgery to identifying changes in lymphatic etc.

由於本次會議的主要目的是與中醫師、教授學者和從業人員分享全新的發現和新的醫療科技，來自世界各地的許多頂尖學者展示了他們的最新發現，從更安全的內窺鏡脊柱手術的創新手術科技到識別淋巴管的變化等等。

 

Among the main scholars and TCM professors that I had the chance to converse with was the President of the Bone and Joint Disease Professional Committee, Professor Jianmin Wen, who should be a familiar name to a lot of TCM practitioners as he was one of the co-translators who translated the text Warm Disease Theory or Wen Bing Xue into English.

在我有機會交談的主要學者和中醫教授中，有骨關節病專業委員會會長溫建民教授，他的名字對於很多中醫從業者來說應該是很熟悉的，他是將《溫病學》翻譯成英文的譯者之一。

 

Overall it was a very intensive 2 day conference but the chance to get a first-hand glimpse of such cutting edge advancements in TCM was well worth traveling half way across the world.

總的來說，這是一次為期兩天的會議，內容非常密集，但有機會親眼目睹中醫的前沿進展，非常值得跨越半個地球去參與這次交流會。
