上門診療服務

One of the major obstacles for many of our patients seeking treatment isn’t necessarily the cost or the time but rather the accessibility.
對於我們許多尋求治療的患者來說，主要障礙之一不一定是費用或時間，而是可及性。

What do I mean by accessibility? It is the ability to physically attend our clinic for consultation and treatment. Like every other TCM clinic we see patients face to face on a daily basis whether it is just for a herbal consultation or assessment and treatment with Acupuncture of Tuina. This would require patients to be able to make their way to our clinic and those who aren’t within walking distance may have to drive or be driven or even take public transport but the reality is this also makes assessing our services difficult for a not so small percentage of our patients. They may need to rely on family and friends to assist and transport them due to their own limited mobility or disability.
可及性是什麼意思？這是能夠親自到我們診所進行咨詢和治療的能力。與其他中醫診所一樣，我們每天都會與患者面對面交流，無論是中醫中藥咨詢還是針灸推拿評估和治療，這將要求患者能夠前往我們的診所，而那些不在步行距離之內的患者可能必須開車或家人朋友開車，甚至乘坐公共交通工具，但現實是，這也使得對於沒有這些便利條件的人來說，獲取我們的治療服務變得困難。由於他們自身行動不便或殘疾，他們可能需要依靠家人和朋友的協助和交通。

For a long time these types of patients could only rely on other people’s every changing schedules and even the weather, therefore some may unfortunately not be able to seek treatment on time.

One of the solutions we came up with was offering our services via call-out. Initially we are currently offering our services to our patients in the St George area but we will look to expand our reach in the near future.
我們提出的解決方案之一是通過上門服務。我們目前正在為St George地區的患者提供服務，但我們將尋求在不久的將來擴大我們的服務範圍。

So what is this call-out service and how is it different from being in our clinic setting? Well it is as it sounds, one of our TCM practitioners will come to the patient’s home via appointment and currently we are mainly focusing on our deep tissue therapy, which involves combination of Tuina and a topical herbal paste. The biggest challenge was how do we bring the clinic to our patients at their own home without compromising our treatment quality and safety? Nowadays portal treatment tables are very common and even the large and bulky Infra-red heat lamps we use at work are now very portable as well. Safety equipment such as disposable bedsheets and sanitation equipment are also used to maintain safety and cleanliness.
那麼這種上門服務是什麼？它與我們的診所環境有何不同？顧名思義，我們的一位中醫師將通過預約來到患者家中，目前我們主要專註於骨傷科治療，包括推拿和外用草藥膏的結合。最大的挑戰是我們如何在不影響治療質量和安全的情況下將診所帶到患者家裡？如今，上門治療台非常常見，甚至我們在工作中使用的又大又笨重的紅外熱燈現在也非常便攜，我們還會使用一次性床單和衛生設備等安全設備來保持安全和清潔。

On average setting up everything is very quick and the patient is able to receive treatment from the comfort of their own home without having to worry about not being able to arrange for travelling outside.

While there is a significant amount of preparation and traveling involved for our practitioners, the benefits we can provide far outweigh these obstacles. During my time working at our clinic I have received a lot of feedback from our elderly patients who unfortunately are unable to make it to the clinic by their ability and therefore sometimes it may be weeks between when they can come for a follow up and there is a high chance of prolonging their discomfort and pain as well as deterioration of their illness.

For example while ago I had an elderly gentleman who I saw for lower leg pain in both legs. He was unable to walk unassisted and would require a wheelchair to get around due to the pain and swelling he was experience in this legs. The first time I saw him, both his legs from the knee down was very swollen and there was significant decrease in vascular flow to his feet and the skin on both lower legs was extremely hard and dark in appearance. We were able to work on it regularly for a few weeks which saw an improvement mobility and reduction in pain and the skin was starting to return to normal with the improvement in circulation due to the treatment. Unfortunately after a while he wasn’t able to come for the treatment as his caregiver was no longer able to help him and it would be almost half a year since I was able to see him again. At that point we were able to offer him our call-out service and once again start working with him to treat his legs.

This is just one of the examples of who may benefit from using this service but we hope to broaden our reach to encompass more patients who may not have known about us clinic in the past as well. Some of our patients who regularly come to our clinic may also use their Home Care Package to pay for their treatments and actually we also offer our call-out services for Home Care Package recipients as well.
